My sister and I went to see Damien Hirst at the Tate Modern last week. Aside from the obvious, I didn’t know a huge amount about his work so I was excited to get to know it and his ideas behind it some more.
I was so much more fascinated with the work than I expected I would be - my favourite piece probably being the Shark, but the Diamond Skull (free to see in the Turbine Hall) was breathtaking beyond imagination.

After trying to fit the past three years into an already full room has taught me the following about my wardrobe:
You actually can have too many pairs of shoes.
As well as drawers organised into items for specific seasons, I also need a drawer entirely devoted to scarves.
I am now of an age where it is necessary to archive items of clothing.
Book Review: Breakfast at Tiffany’s
I used to do this quite a lot, but haven’t had a spare moment to read for months! It was ages ago that I started reading Breakfast At Tiffany’s, but I actually ended up reading most of it in a day on holiday.
I don’t know why it never occurred to me to read it before, but if you love the film it’s well worth a look. A lot of the story is identical, but there are a few characters and parts that are very different - including the ending!
The book also has three short stories at the end of it, which are a bit strange but entertaining all the same. It’s a tiny book so perfect for handbags for the commute!

I went to the Christian Louboutin exhibition at the Design Museum yesterday. It was such a pleasure to be able to see so many of his amazing and more adventurous designs up so close, and to learn some more about his impressive career.
If you’re in any way interested in shoes, it’s well worth a visit. And if you’re not, it’s worth it for the impressive hologram of Dita Von Teese!
For Christmas there were Pantone Baubles, for Easter there are Pantone eggs, of course.
Happy Easter!

Ozwald Boateng: “I’m a tailor, I’m a designer, I’m a stylist”

Yesterday I was lucky enough to see a private screening of Ozwald Boateng’s A Man’s Story, a 90 minute film that started as six weeks of filming and ended up being shot over a period of twelve years. The film taught me so much about his amazing and successful career that never could have learned otherwise, as well as portraying his excitable personality and deep enthusiasm for men’s fashion in a way I never could have understood before.

In the Q&A following the screening, I of course asked him if he was ever planning to sell his clothes online, and if he felt that his level of luxury and quality could ever truly be communicated on a website. In short, his answer was “Yes, yes, and yes”.
